BY- LAWS
ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of this club shall be the Shoreline Women’s Golf Club.
ARTICLE II – OBJECT
The purpose for which this club has been formed is to promote the interests
of golf according to these By-Laws and the Rules of Golf. This club is to be
a non-profit organization.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Membership of this club shall be restricted to women golfers over
18 years of age in good amateur standing and excluding qualified teaching
professionals. Mountain View residents shall have priority of membership.
Section 2. Failure of any member to abide by the rules and regulations set
down in the By-Laws of this club shall result in forfeiture of all rights
and privileges of membership.
Section 3. Games required for maintaining membership shall be defined in the
Standing Rules.
Section 4. The club shall allow associate membership for women who are not
able to play on the regular Tuesday play day. Fees, eligibility and
requirements are stated in the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE IV – GOVERNMENT/OFFICERS
Section 1. The management and control of this club shall be vested in a
Board of Directors.
Section 2. The elected officers will be: Captain, Co-Captain, Secretary and
Treasurer. In addition, the Board of Directors will be comprised of:
Tournament, Stats, Handicap, Membership, Tee Times, Starter/Scorers, Rules
and the past Captain (Ex-Officio).
Section 3. Vacancies occurring in the elective offices shall be filled for
the balance of the unexpired term by an appointment by the Captain with
approval of the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE V – ELECTIONS
Section 1. Elections shall be held annually at the last General Meeting of
the year. Elected officers shall take office on the first of January.
Section 2. At a June meeting (or meeting prior to election meeting), the
members shall elect three members to work with two appointed members of the
Board to serve as the nominating committee. It shall be the duty of this
committee to select candidates for nomination as Directors during the
ensuing year.
Section 3. The slate shall consist of one name (and an assistant as needed)
for each office and be presented to the membership at the General Meeting in
the fall. At this meeting, nominations may be made from the floor.
ARTICLE VI – DUTIES
Section 1. Captain – Shall preside at all meeting of the Shoreline Women’s
Golf Club and shall assume duties as usually performed by an executive
officer of a social organization. She shall appoint chairmen of committees
as shall be deemed necessary to further the purposes of the club.
Section 2. Co-Captain – Shall perform the duties of the captain during her
absence or disability. She also is the club’s representative to PWGA and
chairperson for the club’s annual fundraiser.
Section 3. Secretary – Shall record the minutes of all board and general
meetings, as well as all correspondence as may be required by the Board of
Directors.
Section 4. Treasurer – Shall be responsible for preparation of the annual
budget which will be approved by the Board and presented to the membership
for approval at the spring general meeting. She is also responsible for the
receipt and payment of all funds for the club. The treasurer shall report on
the club’s finances at all general and board meetings. The books are to be
audited at the end of the year by the club auditor. Checks will be signed by
the treasurer and/or the Captain.
Section 5. Tournament – Shall prepare a yearly calendar of all weekly
tournaments and with her committee supervise these games. This committee has
the authority to postpone any tournament because of inclement weather.
Section 6. Handicap – Shall be responsible for oversight of members posting
their correct scores. She will be responsible for any matters relating to
handicapping . She will obtain monthly GHIN numbers and forward an
electronic copy to the Captain and Tee Times chairperson.
Section 7. Starters/Scorers – Shall create an annual scheduling of members
duties for the rosters and handle the reported substitutions on a monthly
basis. She shall prepare and distribute the procedures and remind members of
their upcoming duties.
Section 8. Rules – Shall be responsible for interpreting USGA rules,
implementing local rules and conditions of play as they become necessary.
Section 9. Membership – Shall accept applications for membership, arrange
qualifying rounds for prospective members, and maintain the records of club
members for inclusion in the yearly roster. She will notify the Board of all
new members acceptance in the club.
Section 10. Statistician - Shall keep track of games played, meetings
attended, Captain’s Trophy points, and information of member’s participation
in the club. She will notify the members in the fall of the number of games
they have played and meetings attended.
Section 11. Tee Times – Shall schedule the weekly pairings of members signed
up to play and notify all by email.
ARTICLE VII - MEETINGS
Section 1. For the purpose of conducting an orderly meeting, the Chair shall
abide by Roberts’ Rules of Order.
Section 2. Meetings will be held according to the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE VIII –DUES AND FEES
Section 1. Dues shall be assessed in accordance with the Standing Rules.
Section 2. Delinquent members shall be notified and fined according to the
Standing Rules.
Section 3. An initiation fee shall be charged new members in accordance with
the Standing Rules.
ARTICLE IX – AMENDMENTS
Any proposed changes in these By-Laws must be presented at a regular or
special Board of Directors meeting, and then shall be posted for two week
prior to presentation to the membership. A two-thirds vote of those present
and voting is required for adoption.
