“Fond Farewell”
As most of you know, I am retiring after 29 years of service with
the City of Mountain View. My last day in the office is Thursday,
December 20. The last seven years here at Shoreline have been very
enjoyable. It has been a pleasure working with all of you. Best
wishes for a happy and healthy 2008!
New Face at Shoreline Golf Links
Jack Smith, Parks Section Manager, has been temporarily assigned to
the golf course to oversee day to day operations. Many of you will
recognize Jack -- he has been a City employee for nearly 17 years,
the last six here at the park. Jack has been responsible for a
variety of programs from renovating playgrounds, athletic fields and
resurfacing pathways to supervising sports and aquatic programs. He
is a golfer and enjoys working with people. Please drop by and
introduce yourself to Jack. He is looking forward to meeting SGL
golfers.
New Year’s Close Out Specials
The Fall Series of the Shoreline Custom Shirt Collection for men
will be on close out special beginning January 1, 2008. Also,
selected women’s golf shoes from Addidas and Footjoy have been
discounted to $25.00.
New Scorecard/Yardage Booklet in the Making
Shoreline Golf Links staff will be partnering with On Course
Business Development Company to produce a new “Caddy Card”. The
Caddy Card is an attractive, custom designed, full color detailed
guide to every hole in the course that also contains a scorecard in
the center of the book. A golfer uses The Caddy Card’s Personal Game
Summary Page to record all shots, puts per hole, greens in
regulation, driving distances, fairways hit, etc. By analyzing every
round, golfers are able to identify the weaker areas of their game.
Golfers at other courses love this tool and appreciate that it is a
complimentary offering. Production costs are covered by
advertisements included in The Caddy Card. If you have a business or
service you are interested in advertising in The Caddy Card, please
contact Joe DeBode and he will put you in touch with On Course
Business Development staff. Please note, a scorecard only option
will be available for those regulars or frequent players who would
prefer not to carry the Caddy Card.
Work at #18
Golf Course staff will be working with Landfill staff to raise the
area on the right of #18 tees where a landfill well was raised. The
area had settled and was holding water. Soil will be imported to
correct the problem. Also, the pathway from #17 green to #18 tee
complexes will be redone with a more level walking surface developed
and new grindings applied.
