Mountain View City Championship

The Mountain View City Championship was conducted on September 22 and 23 at Shoreline Golf Links. This was the 7th annual championship event and had a field of 87 players, about 10% higher than 2006. Tessa The, a sophomore at Los Altos High School, won the Women’s Championship and Brent Booth, also from Los Altos, won the Men’s Championship in a three way playoff.

13th Green Project

A project “walk through” was attended by representatives from three contractors. Bids were opened on September 20. Gecko Construction Company was the low bidder. Gecko Construction has worked with the course before, specifically on the recent renovation of the 18th green. The company did a very good job with #18 and staff looks forward to another good result on #13.

16 Tees

Dirt import to the new cart path edges on #16 tees and the area where the first fairway bunker was filled was completed in September. These areas were also re-graded and hydroseeded, completing the project. The new tees were opened the day of the City Championship, September 22.

Kirby Markers

The 100 yard Kirby Markers were replaced in September. The new markers are red, making them more visible to golfers than the traditional green markers. Use of the colored markers was suggested by the Senior Club and endorsed by the Advisory Greens Committee.
