December 2007
Reminder: Holiday Open House
On Friday, December 7, the Shoreline Golf Links Pro Shop will be hosting the
annual Twelve Hour Holiday Sale. Excluding some Ping products, all regularly
priced merchandise will be at least 20% off. (The 20% discount for golf
balls is on the golf ball sleeve price.) Club members have received a
flyer/coupon for an additional 5% off, making for some great savings. One
day Manager’s Specials will also be offered. The Pro Shop will be open from
7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the sale. This is a perfect opportunity to choose
gifts for friends and family in a stress-free, relaxed setting. Golf
Professionals will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about
clubs, shoes, apparel or accessories. The grill and bar at Michaels
Restaurant, next door to the Pro Shop, will be open for breakfast, lunch or
snacks.
Reduced Friday Rates – Program Extended Through December 31
The reduced Friday rate schedule will be extended through December 31, 2007.
This temporary pilot program began on July 1st in an effort to bring more
golfers to the course. The first few months saw an increase in the number of
rounds but not revenue. However, the program is beginning to “catch on” and
has been extended through the end of the year.
Volunteer Program Changes
The Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed and approved the proposed
changes to the complimentary golf for volunteers program on November 14,
2007. The major difference between the revised program and the current one
is the limiting of the number of tee time reservations to one per week.
Also, currently volunteers are issued a volunteer card at the end of a
shift. The card must be activated within four weeks of receipt. Once
activated, it is good for two weeks. Under the proposed policy, the card
would need to be activated within two weeks of receipt and would be valid
for one week thereafter. Each volunteer will receive written information
concerning the changes during the first week of December. If you have any
questions or would like more information, please call me, Paula Bettencourt,
at 650-903-6076 or drop by my office in the Administration Building at your
convenience.
13th Green

construction on #13 |
Soils import and rough shaping at #13 and #14 have been completed.
The next steps are installation of irrigation and clean-up grading
to prepare for hydroseeding in the upcoming weeks. The green and
surrounds were sodded in November and have already begun rooting.
During November, the crew sewed in the sod and filled open areas
with sand. The green has also been rolled several times to work on
bumpy and uneven areas. We expect to open by April 1st, possibly
sooner depending on weather. A new cart path from the left of #13
green to the beginning of #14 fairway is also scheduled to be
installed in the next several weeks. |
